| content: | Agur bidt God hem voordat hij sterft twee zegeningen te geven. Ze worden in de eerste strofe genoemd: van smart vervuld en schuld betuigend wil Agur zich buigen voor de Troon. Zo kan hij zijn kwade gedachten, die hij in strofe 3 t/m 7 noemt, bedwingen. In strofe 5 vraagt hij echter om dagelijks brood; en dat hij daarop mag steunen en niet tegenstreeft. In strofe 8 vraagt hij om Geest en zegen. Volgt nog een schuingedrukte slotstrofe waarin trots met de hoed van een paddestoel wordt vergeleken: zodra de schaduw-schijn [schaed-schijn] opschiet is het er mee gedaan. |
